Need essential advice regarding the exterior desgin of this modern house.
hello everyone.
1. what do you think of the architecture? what would you change? any creative ideas?
2. what do you think about the coneection bitween the two parts of the house? the messy one with all the lines crossing each other?
3. what do you think about the door? the entrance? glass or not? what about the tiny roof above it?
4. what do you say about the upper glass windows? how would anyone be able to clean them? how about the dirt that might acummualte on the concrete below? the one that is seprating the two glasses..
4. what do you think about the back of the house?

tnx alot.

Creations Nadia Interior Design with so much glass around - you will need a cleaning crew - so that would be their task,
front door - glass 100%, "visor" on the top of that - may be you don't need it, otherwise it is so different and BEAUTIFUL, i would not change a thing :)))))

ísARK Studio Hi Tom, Are you working with a design team who designed these for you or are these questions hypothetical?

ísARK Studio Hi Tom, It seems you have a fair number of concerns and if you were already working with an architect than I would encourage you to speak with him because he is intimately familiar with the details and could easily answer your questions. The general design looks very nice. Best of luck with your project.

mveasey Think about glare, heat and privacy. Birds potentially flying against glass and pool water splashing so close to the one window area. Otherwise beautiful design, nice lines, great front door.

LBDS It is pretty nice, It may be a little glary so make sure to tell your architect to design rolling drapery that pops from the ceiling as is hidden by day. It may look a little too institutionalized so maybe few small windows on the huge blank white wall would be nice, and maybe if the place where he has that pole, one could make that more interesting than just a metal column, maybe do something to the pole to peak some interest. Because if that is the focal point, one will want to look at a little more detail. If it would add more interest, you can also change the facade of the building to not just white concrete but maybe one type of material on the north and south walls and another material or another color to the west and east walls.

If you are worried about cleaning so much glass and have not budgeted a cleaning person to do it, and will not budget a cleaning person, take away some of the glass.

mveasey If you need to hire window cleaning personnel, I would try to incorporate some sort of harness rail on the roof or some roof access options. Since this house is very unique, it might be difficult to get someone to SAFELY and properly clean all the areas that concern you. Just a thought.

anthip You're going to have to look into the use of a lot of new technologies to make the house environmentally sustainable - or at the very least if the environment isn't your thing, financially sustainable. Have you thought about self cleaning glass?

Scott Design, Inc. WOW...Great looking structure. I wouldn't change a thing! Ask your architect about tilt and turn glass panels or pivot panels that allow you to wash them from the inside. There are coatings and sealers that help in maintaining cement and stucco. Be sure you mention coatings to your architect and contractor before the cement formulation is determined. Here's some basic info http://generalpolymers.com/coatings_concrete.html
