Need help with ugly granny green siding.
My husband and I just bought our first home and I can't stand the outside of it. I reminds me of the green of my grandma's house and I feel it clashes with the color of the brick! What color would you paint the siding to update the home and blend with the brick. Unfortunately my neighbors have tan siding which is what I think would look best. We have pretty much the same house so doing the same color wouldn't be an option.

Mary Poulos Interior and Exterior Design I know gray is very popular and I do think that is probably your best bet, especially in your case with the brick and the tan house next door.
Possible Choice

Benjamin Moore Gray Husky; Shutters BM Deep Creek; Door BM Gettysberg Gold

Beef up the trim around the front door, all trim should remain white. The shutters should go on the windows on the walls with wood siding, and also on the window that is within the brick siding.

Gettys Gold is really just an example and a guess. You need to choose color that is much deeper form of the color the brick is for the front door.

I can not tell from this picture, as it is too far away, whether you need trim around the window within the brick.

This palette with the shutters will tie the upper lever with the lower level that is why I am suggesting the shutters. And the color of front door will tie it in with the brick.

Good Luck

JWinteriors i agree with mary on the warm gray choice. i would paint the upper shutters black with black flower boxes.

hparks74 I'd go dark charcoal blue... Modernizing your split level would really set it off.

mdamron61 How about barn red?

Sarah Johnson I've seen it with the red and, no way not for me. I've seen Dark blue and I'm iffy on it, I think if I did a dark gray/blue it would look pretty good. I honestly hate the color of the brick and have thought about even staining the brick.

Mary Poulos Interior and Exterior Design :o) I am lobbying for my colors. The reason is the most expensive homes, would go toward the more neutral combination. This is a combination that would be stunning in a most sophisticated way. Because I keyed it to your existing brick siding. Blue or Red would not be the best choice, but something more natural in color and elegant... Sigh...would be best JW help me out here:o)
