The concrete floor looks interesting; from the photo, it looks very nice. If you wanted to keep the concrete, you could have someone come over and get them to give you an idea of cost and possibilities with concrete. I saw a concrete countertop (which they can do with floors, too) that was spectacular looking. I asked about it, because I thought it was a natural stone-- so nice looking.
I have a studio in a detached building, where the floor had to be replaced (original was concrete, but nothing much could be done with mine- very bad shape). I also stand a lot when working, so didn't want something as unforgiving as concrete. I ended up having a floating floor put in and put in really nice cork flooring (wide plank style-- looks like old wood). I like it a lot.
Be well.

Hopefully this link works.
Not for everyone but gives an edgy vibe to a room. I can see going toward a finnish/clean lined rustic feel. Or not, depends on you.
You will see great design at completely affordably prices. These are everyday homes that are wonderfully imaginative using ordinary materials in extraordinary ways.
I got mine at the library and have to send it back there.
As soon as I get home-- well, if I were you, I'd probably rest for a week to 10 days.
(1) Then I'd do some online searching (and asking around) of people in your area who are really good at working with concrete. I'd have them come out and show me their portfolios and ask about making that concrete look like natural old beautiful limestone (and ask how much that would cost). I'm telling you, it can be absolutely stunning. As I understand it, if your concrete is in good shape-- it's not that expensive-- and depending on the stain you want.
(2) Then I'd see about laying a stone wall behind that stove. If that's too expensive and labor-intensive, I'd see about laying slate on the floor and up the wall-- something that would go well with your newly stained concrete. (Oh-- and if that concrete idea is too expensive, I'd put slate down). It will stay cool in summer, too. Have the stove sit on the slate.
(3) Paint the stove and piping.
(4) Then I'd paint the walls, too, because I also think they look dated. But they look to be in good shape, so I'd keep and paint, instead of sheetrock-- maybe some warm grey color to go with the stone or slate.
(5) Then I'd take my time and look for some really nice warm beautiful area rugs.
(6) Then I'd also take my time and look for an old sofa with beautiful lines, at a steal, and have it re-upholstered with fabric to your taste. Get rid of the present one on Craig's List. It's amazing what people will buy on Craig's List. And I can't tell you how many beautiful old sofas and chairs I've found over the years-- great lines-- that just needed good reupholstering.
Anyway-- those are my thoughts. I suspect you can do a lot of this at relatively affordable prices. The most expensive suggestion here is the concrete staining idea. And, again, if they don't have to do a lot of prep work to make that floor flat (as I understand it), then you've already saved a bunch of money. And slate is a really affordable and good-looking option, too.
Just take your time-- but I think it could be spectacular. And then you won't want to sell it.
