Should I put color in my room/house?
I have a phobia to color, using texture instead and maybe muted shades. Do I need color in the house?
Pictures are in order:
Lounge room, open plan sitting/dining/kitchen (managed a bit of cushion color here) and entry

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design You have a lovely room, and it DOES have color, in pillows and your wall art. What I would add to it is texture. I'd add a white Mongolian lamb pillow and a shimmering silvery shag rug.

You could also use a large piece of art over your sofa, which if you want could be fairly neutral, or also quite lovely would be black and white photographs.

decoenthusiaste Nice - just make sure your mirrors are reflecting something beautiful or interesting. If not, replace them with some art as CA-KD sggested above.

Interiors International, Inc. There is nothing wrong with a monochromatic color scheme. Different textures and finishes can make a room more interesting than multiple colors.

Keitha If you want to stay with a monochromatic theme you need more texture ... Maybe baskets, more textural pillows and other natural accessories.

lisa_mocha I also like the idea of textured pillows...as with Carolyn, I think Mongolian lamb pillows wold be great. (I love the ones I have!)Accessorize the coffee table with a couple of items of varying height...
Love the wallpaper:)

California Fence Company If you are not too fond of color, do not add it. It may not please your eyes. Your room otherwise looks nice, it can get better with different textures added into your soft furnishings. It will look great!

rusticglam I love your look! Think you could use a picture, triptych or large mirror over the sofa. Beautiful room!

Hayley French Thank you for your help, I had never questioned my taste until a recent visitor commented on my lack of color!
I like the look of the mongolian lambs wool cushions-have not seen here in New Zealand, I will have to search.
Thanks for the reminder about mirror, it mostly does reflect the dresser but yes the doors are focal too, I hadn't noticed.
I used to have more height on the living area coffee table but when I removed the Television and hung the vintage ceiling tiles (photo attached) on the wall the height interrupted them from another angle (not photographed).
Our house is located semi rural with bush and water views, with this being quite focal in the lounge (with the wall paper) which is why I have not hung art. With this (as photographed below) would you still hang something? Really appreciate you all taking the time to answer. Thanks.

ASVInteriors I think you have answered your own question - with a view like that who needs wall art? However, what happens at night? Do you see the lights across the bay. If the view is as interesting at night as the day, then you don't need to overdo your lovely understated home.

Hayley French Sunsets, lights at night... We have never closed the curtains. So no art in this room then! Thanks :)
