groveraxle I love the mirrors and think the kuba cloth pillow will be great, but I think the wall color is too much. Your sofa totally disappears against the floor and wall. And the blue pillows don't really provide much of a pop because they are the same value as the rest. Even your lamp base is dark.
I would lighten the paint and add a lighter area rug--perhaps a plain jute or sisal--to bring your sofa back into view. Also, if you intend to use kuba cloth, I think some other ethnic touches would help bring it all together. Perhaps a pattern on the lamp shade that echoes the geometry of the kuba would help.
ksmorehead Thank you so much for all of the feedback! I really appreciate it! I ordered the mirrors from overstock. They are by Howard Elliott and normally 400 but I got them for 193!!!!:) here's the link.. http://www.overstock.com/#product-detail
carolins Although I do really like your sofa and the wall colour, I do agree with Groveraxle... it's all very much the same colour and colour 'strength'. Still... it doesn't bother me enough to suggest painting it. You can always do that if it starts to bother you. Which it may never do :-)
Looking forward to seeing the progress...
Jeffrey Brooks Interior Design Hi, Just jumping in here because your photos caught my eye. I don't know what your prepared to do going forward but I think you're off to a great start.
I think that painting the room in lighter colors will make a big difference. You could use a color that puts you in mind of natural cisal or burlap. Warm the trim from White to Ivory. Turn the ceiling powder-blue-gray. The idea is that next you'd bring in the mudcloth pillows, carved primative tables and artifacts and colorful shots. Natural Linen drapes edged in "almost-Black-Brown" cotton tape would add texture as would a cisal rug. Sheepskin throw, faux animal skin small rug in front of the sofa. Last suggestion is to avoid going over the top with the primative pieces. A nickle framed coffee table with a stone or glass top and next to your chair a nickle floor lamp maybe. Love to see it when you're done. Best, Jeff Brooks
Manon Floreat I think you are very much moving in the right direction and applaud you for your rich and bold choice of colors. I do agree with Jeffrey Brooks that the trim could be toned down. The stark white is a bit high on the contrast scale for the feel you have in this room.
I'd encourage you to go ahead and get another kuba cloth pillow to compliment the one you plan to purchase. When you're in the market for an area rug, you could think about a lighter one to balance the deeper colors you currently have.
Below is an example to consider. Good luck to you! I hope you keep us posted of your progress.
I would paint the ceiling to bring it down and to reincorporate the teal in the room. It would take some tweaking. I have an aquamarine blue here but I would gray it down just a bit and make certain the blue-green balance is correct for the pillows and lamp

Chunky Wool & Natural Jute Rug
Or a sisal one with a faux animal skin like Jeffrey Brooks suggested:
